What is the role of RAASA?
Answer
The mandate of RAASA is to exercise control over recreation activities within the Non Typed Certified Aircraft industry as envisaged in section 22(g) of the Aviation Act, 1962 (Act No. 74 of 1962) read in conjunction with Part 149.01.2 (a) to (g) of the Civil Aviation Regulations. The entity does not oversee recreational flying activities which are specifically excluded. The only activity currently excluded is that of the Soaring Society of SA.
